Care plan
A care plan is a monthly service a web designer sells after a website launches: keeping the site working, safe and up to date, plus a fixed list of small changes, for a fixed monthly price.
What it means
Most of the work that keeps a website running happens where the client can't see it: updates, backups, checking the contact form still sends, renewing the domain on time. A care plan names that work, adds a short list of small changes the client can ask for each month, sets a reply time, and puts one monthly price on all of it.
It sits between two other words you'll hear. Maintenance keeps the site working and nothing more. A retainer books a block of your time each month for whatever the client needs. A care plan is maintenance plus a fixed list of small changes, which makes it the easiest of the three for a small business to understand.
An example
A florist pays a monthly care plan. It covers updates, a monthly backup check, a reply within two working days, and up to three small text or photo changes. When she asks for a new gift card shop, you both know from the plan that it's extra, and you quote it before you start.
Why it matters
A written care plan gives the client a clear promise and gives you a clear line between "included" and "extra". Without one, every request turns into a small negotiation.
In Volant
A care plan is one of the services on a client's page, with what it includes and when it renews. Renewing it is a decision you make, not something that happens on its own.
